Visitation At A Mosque
I recently had the laughable opportunity to observe an Islamic Mosque in action as part of my religion class. We arrived at the Mosque on a aeriform afternoon on March 11, 2011 for Friday tapers. It was called Islamic Society of greater okay City on 3815 N Saint Claire Ave Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I experienced a great and almost uneasy difference in religion. Although many of the traditions atomic number 18 much comparable my own, Christianity, the ways in which they pray, live their lives, and nonetheless dress are much different than my own. Prior to going to this ceremony, a some classmate and I called one of the members of the church to get randomness mainly about what we were to wear. One of the church members informed us to wear our clothes very baggy so that we wouldnt show our bodies. We followed these guidelines, but when we got on that point we realized that we were supposed to in addition wear a head cover. Before we could go into the path, we had to guide our shoes and socks off and washed them then walk in and sit on the floor. This is because we are entering a set apart place and it is a sign of reverence to Allah. Also when a Muslim prays at the Mosque at times they put their faces on the floor.
When we entered the prayer hall I immediately noticed that there are no seats.
This is because when Muslims sit on the floor they pray just on the floor. They go through the Rakah the routine is stand, bow, kneel, and look up the floor with the forehead. There are also no pictures on the walls. This is because Muslims believe you should not make images of God. They do not even consider it right to draw pictures of the prophet Muhammad so that they remained focalization on God (Allah).
After moments of silence, a man speaks into the microphone to perform the first call to prayer in Arabic. I say perform because the call to prayer sounds much uniform a song and I imagine it requires a proficient amount of skill to carry out. After the call to prayer, the room again falls to silence...If you want to get a lavish essay, order it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
