The Chimney Sweeper

1-There is a political background of England during Blakes time. Here in this poem, the poet tries to render the poverty and sufferings of lower class pot at that time. They were compel to sell their shaverren to earn their livelihoods. We can clearly see the pictures of the human beings trafficking in this poem.

The children represent people who submit to the laws of religion in hopes that they will receive the earn of an after-life. He illustrates his point in lines 13-16. And by came an Angel who had a bright key, and he opened the coffins and set them free; then down a green plain leaping, laughing, they run, and wash in the river, and shine in the sun. the fact that the church is supposed to harbor children from these sort of injustices, but rather plays a part in the enslavement of the children.
.-Blake denies his readers, or his young subjects, a happy stopping point unless they realize they must do their duty as habituated by God.



While the poem seems to literally assert that there is hope for sweeps only in heaven, reading for spiritual, symbolic, and moral meaning provides multiple conflicting meanings behind this short poem. The innocent, hopeful narrator, a young sweep, seems to dare his readers to assist in preventing the moral putrefaction of the lower-class painful existence.
